prof. Carlo Ferrari

Carlo Ferrari was born on January 22, 1944 in Bologna. Full Professor of Environmental and Applied Botany at the University of Bologna. His scientific research activity, carried out also at the University of Pavia (1986-1994), concerns the study of plant biodiversity, from populations to communities. His main researches are in the field of vegetation science, with particular regard to the study of the ecological predictivity of plant communities and its deductions for the analysis and environmental management. In this field, he also researches on the genetic diversity of species populations in conditions of geographical marginality and disjunction from the main range. He is author of 137 publications in these fields (January 2010). He is member of several international and national scientific societies and he directs several research programs.
