Everyone knows the delicious flavour of the avocado. Who has been in Latin America has often enjoyed the guacamole sauce served in earthenware cups before a plate of tacos, and those who love japanese food appreciated for sure the avocado inside the makis, between a shrimp and the layer of algas. As well as having an excellent taste and being extremely nutritious (it provides almost all the 20 essential nutrients for our body), the avocado is also a very beautiful plant and it’s easy to grow.
Here's HOW to grow it in 5 easy steps:
Eat avocado and save the big, slippery,seed.
Take 2 toothpicks and put them into the seed, at half height, perpendicularly, to createa kind of trellis support.
Get a half-fullglass of water, putthe toothpickson the edgesof the glass, making sure that the lesstaperedpartof the seedis in contact withthe water surface.
Place the “avocado system” ina fairly enlightened corner of your home. Make sure that the it is not constantly enlightened by the sunand remember toadd wateras it evaporates.
Be patient. During the following three weeksthe seedwillbegin togerminate. Remove the toothpicks, movethe sproutina potwith soiland remember that itrequiresmoisture and lightbut you must alwaysassure thedrainage ofsoil.
Last tip: when winter is coming, move the plant in a warm and sunny place! It’s still a tropical plant and it cannot bear too much thermal stress, as do I.
