Conoscete il [Wolong National Nature Riserve](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolong_National_Nature_Reserve)? È una riserva naturale protetta, situata in Cina, che si estende per ben 200.000 ettari. Negli ultimi tempi è stata al centro dell’attenzione mediatica di tutto il mondo per le **stravaganti** (ma efficaci) **tecniche utilizzate per la salvaguardia del panda gigante**, l’ospite prezioso della riserva. ![](https://blog.treedom.net/hs-fs/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/panda%20riserva.jpg?width=900&height=643&name=panda%20riserva.jpg) Questo tenero orso bicolore, il **panda**, è il simbolo della Cina, tuttavia, come saprete, è una **specie in estinzione**; si registra infatti un numero di esemplari davvero esiguo. Nella riserva in questione, i panda trovano un’ambiente quanto più simile a quello che troverebbero in natura, così da essere pronti per il rilascio nel mondo selvaggio. Ma questo non è bastato. Nel 2005, infatti, un primo rilascio di un maschio adulto non è andato a buon fine, per via della **poca dimestichezza alla vita selvaggia** – sospettarono gli scienziati. Così il direttore Zhang Hemin – chiamato simpaticamente Papà Panda – e la sua squadra, hanno capito che gli animali nati in cattività non sapevano come comportarsi, una volta tornati nella natura e che, quindi, per far **sopravvivere i panda fuori dalla riserva** bisognava abituarli a crescere allo stato brado o quasi, eliminando qualsiasi traccia umana dal loro mondo. Vi starete chiedendo – **Come**? **Travestendosi**. ![](https://blog.treedom.net/hs-fs/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/panda%20travestimento.jpg?width=900&height=584&name=panda%20travestimento.jpg) ![](https://blog.treedom.net/hs-fs/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/panda%20travestimenti%20estinzione.jpg?width=900&height=582&name=panda%20travestimenti%20estinzione.jpg) Ancora oggi l’equipe che si prende cura di loro, prima di entrare in contatto con gli animali, indossa costumi bianchi e neri con tanto di maschera di panda! E c’è di più. Oltre all’aspetto, dovranno anche **“profumare” come un panda**, imperniando i loro costumi di odori familiari agli animali – feci e pipì! Risultato? La strategia sembra funzionare! L'anno scorso sono nati 21 cuccioli e due sono stati reintrodotti con successo nell'ambiente naturale. Continuate così, ragazzi! [Ti è piaciuto l'articolo?
